Description
The Medical Products Division in Flagstaff, AZ is seeking a Supply Development Engineer to drive Gore's business relationships involving the strategic sourcing of critical raw materials and technologies not available internally. As a Divisional resource, this position requires a creative, hands-on individual who can simultaneously support multiple program teams regarding access to outside businesses and services.
Responsibilities will include the following:
· Strategic management of Gore's critical business relationships related to the development and procurement of raw materials and/or product technologies.
· Identify high-risk suppliers with current MPD projects and develop strategies for mitigating these risks.
· Provide outside supplier perspectives to project teams in the design and development phases of new products and support project teams in the development of suppliers.
· Work with project teams, leadership, and legal to develop and prepare business and supply agreements.
· Build relationships with outside suppliers to leverage and expand access to new technologies not available internally to Gore as well as assist with acquisitions when applicable.
· Participate in the review of material specifications, drawings, and inspection procedures with the project teams, supply chain team, and suppliers to drive best choice supply decisions.
· Assess supplier capabilities against MPD supply needs. Evaluations serve as a basis for qualification as approved suppliers and risk assessment for business contingency planning.
· Provide expertise in many areas of raw materials and services achieving the goal of a portfolio of more common suppliers that better fit Gore's needs.
· Recognition and protection of Gore's intellectual property.
· Active participation at professional meetings and trade shows to remain current in the relevant supplier landscape with regards to new businesses, mergers, and acquisitions.
Qualifications
The ability to conceptualize, build and maintain relationships with suppliers is essential. Preferred candidate will have an established knowledge of the medical device and component industry, supply management, engineering, manufacturing processes and technologies. Project Management skills and the ability to support engineering in the design, development and prototyping of materials and supply chain needs is critical. Ability to develop and execute plans and consistently produce the desired results. Proven ability to manage multiple priorities.
This position requires the ability to influence and build a functional network with individuals and teams across organizations including engineering, procurement, technology, manufacturing, quality, marketing, business leadership, regulatory and legal. The successful candidate must possess excellent verbal and written skills and a professional working style. Demonstrated influencing skills required.
A B.S. degree in Supply Management, Engineering, or Materials Science with at least 10 years of experience in supplier or customer relationship management, business operations, quality engineering or material science preferably in the medical device industry. A M.S. or MBA degree is a plus. Relevant work experience in engineering, procurement, or supply chain management may be an adequate substitute for formal education.
