We are looking for an experienced process engineer to join our Core Technology Division to lead new process development efforts for coated films. In your role as Process Development Engineer, you will partner closely with New Product Development associates to understand product application and fitness for use criteria. You will lead validation projects to define process windows, establish operating conditions, and implement all of the necessary equipment modifications, procedures, sampling plans, analytical testing, and training to robustly manufacture new products.

More specifically, you will

* Identify and drive innovative process and equipment projects for improved safety, cost, quality, capability, and capacity
* Troubleshoot manufacturing processes
* Design, execute, and analyze experiments using statistical methods
* Collaborate with global partners and local new product development teams to develop and implement robust manufacturing processes for new products
* Partner with design engineers to develop and install new equipment
* Plan and carry out product, process, and equipment validations in accordance with guidelines such as FDA or ISO
* Match fitness-for-use requirements to process measurements and set points
* Train and coach other technical associates
* Document your work with reports, tech notebooks, quality system, and design file entries

Qualifications

Required Qualifications/Experience

* BS in engineering field - (ChE, ME, or Materials Science preferred)
* Minimum of 3 years of process engineering or new product development experience
* Demonstrated ability to lead complex projects and drive them to successful completion
* Solid knowledge of engineering fundamentals and demonstrated ability to apply them in a hands-on fashion in the course of design, optimization, development, and troubleshooting activities
* Working knowledge of statistical tools such as designed experimentation and/or SPC in manufacturing processes
* Track record of problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
* Ability to multi-task and prioritize
* Capability to network and contribute in teams with different skills, varied educations, and diverse backgrounds
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to support occasional off-shift production activities as necessary
* Willingness to travel up to 15% (includes international)

Desirable Qualifications/Experience

* Demonstrated expertise in web handling
* Experience with low-viscosity coating and drying processes
* Experience performing scale-up and validation projects
* Experience applying lean manufacturing tools and concepts
